Waterford Township Public Library

Renovation and Expansion

DMA was selected in 2002 to renovate and expand the Waterford Township Public Library. The project was completed in October of 2004--a major space planning endeavor that relocated the children's department to a western addition and combining it with the space vacated by Parks & Recreation department. Space previously occupied by the children's department was given over to periodicals and expanded staff space. Accent lighting is used to draw patrons into the Children's Department--carrying them along a flowing "river" feature that is expressed in the ceiling and carpet. New spaces are highlighted with continuous illuminated soffits. In addition to the expanded children's area, this project provides a new quiet study room, a story room, and a crafts room--all within a more efficient plan.
