Washington Square Branch
Kalamazoo Public Library
The overall goal of the design scheme was to create a user friendly and up-to-date interior for this 1929 branch library built in the English Arts & Crafts style. As a neighborhood treasure that patrons have always loved, it was of utmost importance that the character of the building be enhanced and preserved.
All furnishings, fixtures and fabrics are new, and were each selected to reinterpret the spirit of 19th century English interiors. Tables and carrels, chosen to reflect the time period, were updated for CPUs and wire management to fully integrate data and power capabilities.
