New Park Branch
Grosse Pointe Public Library
Historically, the Grosse Pointe Park community has been served by a 4,500-sq.ft branch library housed in a public school building. For many years, demand for services has demonstrated the need for a larger facility, but funding had not been available until recently. A Needs Assessment in 2001 determined the need for a 12,000-sq.ft. library in this neighborhood. The City of Grosse Pointe Park plans to build a small art museum on a portion of the site adjacent to the Municipal Complex on Jefferson Avenue, leaving the west portion of the site for the new Library. As designed, the Library locates an entry tower on axis with a boulevard leading into the Municipal Complex, thereby creating a strong icon indicating entrance for the library.
