Student Union Building
Michigan State University
The firm of Ralph Calder & Associates (RCA) has recently worked on three renovation and re-purposing projects for MSU's Student Union Building, designed in 1923 by Pond and Pond and enlarged by RCA in 1945. Prior to joining DMA, RCA developed plans for a multi-cultural center, a women's resource center, a food court, kitchen facilities, and the union store. RCA's designs integrated these new programs with sequenced mechanical and electrical improvements that allowed the building to remain operational during renovation and construction. These complex projects were completed on time and under budget.
