The firm of David Milling Architects won this competition to design the Michigan Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial Monument in 2007. This monument is comprised of twenty-one sentinels--engraved glass panels--standing vigil over the memory of those lost. Because these regrettable killings will not cease, the design of the monument is not static. At the eastern side of the site, some blank panels will be installed with space provided for the monument to be expanded. Names of the fallen would be engraved into the surface chronologically, beginning at the west, and would be illuminated from below. DMA is currently working with the MELOM committee on fund raising.
