David Milling Architects was retained by Clemson University to develop a Library Masterplan for the 184,000-sq.ft. Cooper Library. DMA worked with staff, student, administrators in developing a 21st Century Library Vision. We also prepared an expansion feasibility study documenting the opportunities and constraints that the existing building poses in relation to the Library's Vision, and finally, the recommendation of space planning alternatives--including remote storage strategies.
Following meetings with the Library's Steering Committee, Key Stakeholders, and Library Staff, DMA presented the designs seen here to the University's Administration. Work was completed in 2010 on the first phase of the project--renovation of the lower levels of the existing building. The Library is currently raising funds for the second phase of work.
